Where Angels Fear to Tread A Remy Chandler Novel Thomas E Sniegoski Books
I am not a professional product rater such as appears on Amazon so much (are they paid by companies to do this?), just a regular person. As such I am not going to tell you all about the story, why would i do that? the fun is in the reading I don't need to know everything before i start reading and I would think other heavy readers would feel somewhat the same. However I have read sci-fi and fantasy for decades now (and i read a lot so I have read many authors) and I started reading Thomas in the last year or two. Really enjoy his books they are a fun and interesting read, I can't imagine you would be disappointed if you tried him. I choose 4 stars because it's pretty foolish to think very many people or products are so perfect as to rate 5 stars....but this author is a very very strong 4 stars. One of the parts of the book I find interesting is how he treats the main characters interactions with his dog.

Where Angels Fear to Tread A Remy Chandler Novel Thomas E Sniegoski Books Reviews
Good read. I'm not an overly religious person but this novel made me want to research Angels.I had no idea there were so many different types of Angels. Remy Chandler is a great character.
I have read the entire series and not a single book was disappointing. There is a lot of blood, violence, action but also with a place for hope.
This is a very readable and enjoyable fantasy series about an angel who is living his life here on earth. Like a tired war vet, he just needs some down time after the war in heaven eons ago. For the last 60 years or so, he has been working as a PI in Boston. What a premise for a fantasy series. And it works pretty well!
In this third installment, we have some of the original characters back, even if just in flashback. We also get some new ones that I hope are regulars (the old priest who consults on ancient symbols; the bartender at the very odd bar, etc).
This story involves an ancient bad girl, Delilah, and her attempt to gain control over something that will give her back all she has lost over the years. Furthermore, there is a subplot about a minor bad guy (Dagon) godlet who is trying to make a comeback. All of this must be fought by our hero, Remy Chandler (the angel Remiel).
I have to say that the story holds together very well. I recommend it to anyone that enjoys fantasy. I can hardly wait till the next book!
I enjoyed the read but it was a big step down from the first in the series "A Kiss Before The Apocalypse". "A Kiss Before The Apocalypse" is a terrific book that at times is so poignant that it brought tears to my eyes while also being magical, hardboiled, nasty and wondrous. "Where Angels Fear To Tread" is the 3rd one in the series and I was glad to spend more time with Remy and his world but it is far from being the game changer the first one was.
If there's anything Thomas Sniegoski does well, it's to wrap a fictional story seamlessly around religious works and theological dictates. I had to look up some characters mentioned in this book, and I absolutely LOVE when a fictional books adds non-fictional knowledge to my brain.
I really loved the first Remy Chandler novels and I think I was expecting something similar in this one. I didn't like it as much as I liked the first two but it was still enjoyable.
If you haven't read the first two books, Remy is a retired, not fallen angel who works as a Boston PI and takes cases that get a little weird. In this one, he's hired to look for an autistic girl who was kidnapped by her father and things take a turn for the strange when he finds out that there is involvement of a cult and that the girl can draw the future.
Samson and Delilah are supporting characters in this one. The former with a Holy mission, and the second under a curse for her betrayal of Samson.
There were aspects of this book I really liked, but the whole thing just seemed a bit less then the other two. Not enough to knock me off the series, I'll still get the next book.
Recommended for fans of Jim Butcher or Simon R. Green.
The third book in a wonderful series, Where Angels Fear to Tread has a mother hiring our detective-angel to locate her child, who has been kidnapped by her father. Remy is drawn into the case when the mother shows him a picture the child drew of him and Marlowe -- though she has never met him. Remy quickly discovers that he is once again wrapped up in a supernatural mystery involving historic characters.
If you have not read the Remy Chandler novels by Thomas Sniegoski, you are in for a treat. They are dark and gritty detective tales with a difference the detective, Remy Chandler, is a Seraphim, a warrior angel who left heaven in search of his own humanity. Remy's angelic nature (and his wings!) are firmly held in check, until occasionally required - generally in battle. One delightful side benefit of an angelic nature is that Remy can speak every language on earth, including that of animals. He has great conversations with Marlowe, his black lab, and occasional (snobby) cats that he comes across. Remy's relationship with Marlowe is well done, and touching, as is his relationship with his best friend, Steven, a policeman.
