I can't fully express why this second novel doesn't appeal to me as much as the first did. The characters and their interrelationships have been established, and Lyle does build on them while remaining to their origins. I like the book, the mystery is a novel one, no pun intended, but something does not give me the same enthusiasm as the introduction did.
Nice book. I have no regrets about the time that went into reading it. I simply cannot rave about it, which is a shame.

To Die Fur A Whiskey Tango Foxtrot Mystery Dixie Lyle Books Reviews

I really liked the first book in the series. In fact, I loved the first book, which is why I bought this one. It seems like an afterthought and the "who did it" part seemed forced and rushed. I don't think I'll be getting book #3, if there is one.
This is a great fantasy story. I love how this author sprinkles in real facts among her storylines. it is an entertaining read that will capture your imagination and leave you wanting more
I LIKED THIS BOOK, BUT I'M NOT SURE WHY. ITS ABOUT MURDER, GHOSTS, SUPERNATURAL EVENTS. THE MAIN CHARACTERS ARE PRETTY DIFFERENT THAN OUR USUAL CHARACTERS. THIS SERIES IS CENTERED AROUND A HUGE PET CEMETERY & A RICH BOSS LADY, WHO HAS SOME VERY INTERESTING FRIENDS.
This is the first in a series and I read the third one first, then this one, so, because I'd figured out a lot of it in volume 3, this one didn't seem as fast-paced as the second and third. My advice either read them in order, or, if you've read two or three first, don't go back. This novel lays the ground work for the rest in the series. Having said that, I LOVE the way Dixie Lyle writes. Very sharp, very funny. And, if you like animals (not just cats and dogs) then that's a bonus to the humor and the plot.
This is a great series. I love the characters living and dead. Deirdre "Foxtrot" Lancaster is a personal assistant to an extremely quirky and rich Zelda Zoransky who throws house parties on her estate. This series combines cozy mystery, humor and the paranormal. I got the first book at a used book sale and loved it so much I ordered the rest of the series from .
I really enjoyed "To Die Fur" by Dixie Lyle. Ms Lyle has an off beat sense of humor which makes her books fun to read. The characters include Whisky who is a shape-shifting ghost dog, Tango who is a cat that is on her 7th life, and their human, who is Foxtrot. Oh, did I mention there is also a Thunderbird who can control the weather? And for animal lovers, there is a glimpse into the Rainbow Bridge. Obviously this is not your average dog, cat and human cozy mystery. But having said all of that, the book holds your attention and there are enough twists and turns in the plot to keep the reader interested and guessing. I can't wait until the third book in the series comes out.
I thought the first book in the series had overly sentimental-plus-pedantic aspects (explanations about pet ownership & love, being an administrative assistant, life-after-death perspectives, etc.) and was on the edge of my tolerance for goofiness without depth of plot or character, but I wanted to give the series another shot. This volume didn't win me over, either.
I kind of detest the officiousness of some of the characters - "a wacky circumstance is dumped upon you with a ticking clock. Prioritize this and don't ask questions." - Eli most prominently, but I can't say I enjoy when it crops up in Foxtrot or Ben particularly, either.
Just not to my tastes.
